JMO informs court the young woman drowned
Jerome Consolitta (23) died due to drowning, the Judicial Medical Officer informed Jaffna Magistrate yesterday.
The body of Jerome Consolitta was recovered from a well behind St. Patrick’s College, Jaffna on April 14 . The JMO also reported that she was not sexually abused.
Jaffna Magistrate P. Sivakumar yesterday postponed the case to June 6.
The Magistrate also ordered that the report of the conversation of the priests with Ms. Consolitta be submitted to the Courts within two days.
The two priests who were implicated in the death pf the young woman told Court that they only discussed Bible with the girl. However, Parents and relatives of Consolitta informed Court that the two priests were responsible for her death.
Following the recovery of her body from the well, a demonstration was held by the relatives of Consolitta placing her body in front of the Bishop’s House on April 16.
When the case was called for inquiries April 23, the mother of the deceased accused the two priests of the death of her daughter while her father said that he suspected that his daughter had been killed and dumped into the well. The Magistrate also ordered that the report of the conversation of the priests with Ms. Consolitta be submitted to the Courts within two days.
