Robber-Gang arrested in Gampola

Gampola Crime Investigation Division arrested on Sunday a gang of six young men wanted in connection with a series of robberies in several areas. The suspects were between 18 and 24 years of age.

The Police seized a trishaw used by the suspects for their illegal activities. The suspects were in possession of a large consignment of stolen motor spare parts and accessories including tyres, batteries, car audio sets and speakers, and spare parts for engines, at the time of arrest. The suspects were from Kurunduwatta and Gelioya areas, were produced before Gampola Magistrate on Monday afternoon.

Crimes OIC P.W.S.B Palihawadana, Sergeants Megasuriya (2340), Jayasekara (55656) D.M. Heenbanda, (401), Anil (49688) PCs Herath (57844), Nissanka (45168) and Nawaratne (7176) conducted the raid on the instructions of Gampola HQI Chandra Jayaweera, ASP Chulani Weeraratne and ASP Kalipa Seneviratne.
