BHIKKHUNI KUSUMAWILL BE AT THALAWATHUGODAONVESAKDAY
Venerable Dr. Bhikkhuni Kusuma who was away in the United States and Germany for five weeks on international Buddhist missionary assignments will conduct a meditation programme at Sri Sugatharamaya Thalawathugoda on Vesak Day (May 14). Her programme will begin at 8.00 a.m. at the temple at Hokandara Road.
During her stay in the US last month, Ven. Kusuma conducted several meditation programmes and sermons in several cities including New York, New Jersey, Chicago, North Carolina and Ohio.
In Germany she represented the Buddhist order at an inter-faith conference conducted at St. Ottilien Benedic- tine Monastery in Bavaria and also conducted sermons in many parts of the country.
Ven. Kusuma, the first Bhikkhuni to be ordained in Sri Lanka after a lapse of thousands of years, hsssolds a PhD in Bhikkhuni Vinaya (code of ethics). She was a lecturer at Sri Jayawardenepura University prior to her ordination.
