Netball National Pool reduced to fifteen
The Netball Selection Committee has decided to lessen the number of players of the Netball National Pool which will participate the Asian Senior Netball Championship 2014 in Singapore. Before the selections, the national pool included twenty nine and at present it has been reduced to fifteen. The decision was taken at the selection trial, which was held at St. Joseph’s College ground, Maradana last weekend.
The selected players will start their training session from today at the Katunayake Air Force Camp, says Damayanthi Jayathilake, the Secretary of the Netball Interim Committee. It is decided to participate the national netball pool in a foreign training session in (Malawi or Fiji) next month.
The final twelve players will be selected at the final trial, which will be held at the first week of July. The fifteen players are:Tharjanee Shivalingham, Semini Alwis, Shrin Nugera, Marisha Fernando, Kumarin Silva, Gayani Dissanayaka, Thisala Algama, Shashika Samarasinghe, Thivanka Perera, Thilini Wattegedara, Darshani Abeykoon, Nawchalee Rajapakse, Hasitha Mendis and Sureka Gamage
