The deceased was identified as M. Rincy Perera (55) and the injured was Priyangika Navodya (33), a mother of a child and resident of Galahitiya, Madampe.
Police rushed to the scene on information and recovered the body and the injured and said they had found five incised wounds caused by a large knife in the dead woman’s body while the injured woman was admitted to Kalubovila hospital in a critical condition.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had been employed as a security officer of a garment factory in the area and her three sons were married and living in different areas. She was living alone in the house, however, her children or her relatives did not know about the young woman who was injured in the incident. Police said the injured women was working abroad and returned recently and was a close associate of the deceased’s younger son, who is currently working aboard.
