BASL wants unbiased probe on BBS

- BY SUSITHA R. FERNANDO

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) yesterday reiterated that full and unbiased investigations should be carried out into the unlawful incidents alleged to have been committed by the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) and should commence prosecution according to the law.

Citing a number of unlawful activities alleged to have been carried out by the BBS, the Executive Committee of the BASL urged that a full and unbiased investigation should be carried out into the alleged incidents expeditiously.

“The BASL notes, with regret, that the investigations in this connection do not appear to have been satisfactorily conducted, so far,” the BASL said.

Signed by BASL Secretary Ajith Pathirna, the country’s biggest body that represents the attorneys, the BASL expressed its concern over a number of incidents alleged to have been committed by the BBS.
