Bandula Vithanage passes away
Award-winning dramatist, actor and translator Bandula Vithanage passed away yesterday at the age of 74. His funeral will take place at 4.30 pm on Thursday, September 4 at the Borella General Cemetery.
His remains will lie at the Jayaratne Funeral Parlour, Borella today (2) and tomorrow (3); they will be transferred to the Art Gallery in Colombo 7 at 9.30 am on Thursday, his son, filmmaker Nalaka Vithanage said.
Bandula, who started his career as a translator in the sixities, later made a name for himself as an actor and dramatist. Among his plays are Eliya, E Sonduru Minisa, Megha Garjana, Gangawak Sapaththu Kabalak, Wenisiye Welenda, Senehebara Dolly, Hiru Dahasa, Romaya
Gini Ganee 1 and 2, and several others.
