Planned cultural destruction: Mavai
The culture of the Tamil people was systematically destroyed and people should be aware of it, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian Mavai Senathirajah said at a meeting held at Uduvil Pradeshiya Sabha on Sunday (31).
The meeting was held to elect office bearers of the ITAK for the Manipay branch.
“Planned cultural destruction was in place in the North. Our youth are pushed into it. Hence, it is the dire necessity of the hour to pull them out of it and we have to collectively work against it,” he said. “We must absorb new members into our party and in particular many young men join us. We also need to recruit women. In the last Local Government Elections we recruited 40 per cent youth and they were elected.
“If we have infighting, the general public would lose confidence in us. That would only affect our people. We have to identify the common enemy and fight against it.
“Infighting will only strengthen our enemies and they would be immensely benefited,” he said. “We need to win over the Muslims in the East and should not conceive the idea that we can attain our goal without their support,” he said.
