Snorkel lift at MRIA

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd has purchased a Snorkel TL37J trailer mounted boom lift to work at Mahinda Rajapakse Internatio­nal Airport (MRIA) in Hambantota.

The airport is SriLanka’s newest airport based in the southeast of the country and its first greenfield airport.

The Snorkel TL37J trailer mounted boom lift is designed to provide a safe working platform up to heights of 13 meters. This lift offers an excellent working envelope, which includes a 1.3m jib boom for precise positionin­g of the platform.

It also features hydraulic outriggers for simple machine set-up, smooth proportion­al controls for easy operation, and is available in a range of power options, including DC battery, AC mains and bi-energy.

The TL37J is the second Snorkel lift purchased by Airport and Aviation Services, which also recently t ook delivery of a Snorkel PAM26 10 meter push-around mast lift, which is already in use at Bandaranai­ke Internatio­nal Airport.

Both lifts were sold by Hydromec Internatio­nal (Pvt.) Ltd (formerly Allied Trading & Engineerin­g (Pvt.) Ltd), which is the official Snorkel distributo­r for Sri Lanka.

Hydromec CEO Rajah Abeyasingh­e personally tested and delivered the unit to the customer and the company has also provided operator training for the staff at Airport and Aviation Services. Hydromec will provide comprehens­ive product support for both lifts in future.

Hydromec began working with UpRight Powered Access in 2000 and has seven units working at the Smart Shirts facility. Snorkel lifts can also be found working at SriLankan Airlines, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, American Embassy i n Sri Lanka and Nobles Manufactur­ing, Pallekelle, amongst others.
