Wash - As simple as that!

Crushed in the public bus with full of strangers, sliding down a railing of a staircase, three four hours in the school laboratory - those are just a few places where we come into contact with thousands of these unknown creatures.

Why worry? You even can’t see them to your naked eye. True! BUT that is where we make our biggest mistake. They might be minute in size, yet the results are deadly. Hands are the most probable sources to spread diseases not just by touching others, but touching ourselves as well. Soon, the entire family will be on their way to the doctor.

If you are lucky you will end up with a common cold. But what if your four leaf clover is not around? These tiny pathogens could even make you stay in bed a nightmare for months at a time. Meningitis, bronchiolitis, the flu, hepatitis and most types of infectious diarrhoea are just some of the famous yet severe damage causers to our health.

Hepatitis A is caused by the hepatitis A Virus (HAV). The disease spreads through contact with an infected person. It might take around six months for complete recovery. Meningitis too is contagious. The germs that cause it can be passed from one person to another through coughing and sneezing and through close contact. Viral meningitis is caused by viruses. Bacterial meningitis is caused by bacteria. Fever, headache, vomitting, staying awake and seizures are the symptoms you encounter. The after effects could be temporary or even permanent memory loss, difficulty in retaining information, lack of concentration, deafness, hearing problems, dizziness, loss of balance and loss of sight. In general, infections that cause diarrhoea are highly contagious and can be spread to others. These are just a few from a long list of illnesses that we should beware of, which can be spread through that specific part of our body used most widely throughout the day, 365 days of the year - our hands.

However, if there is a will there is a way. Everyone looks for the smooth running of their lives as health is one of the basic needs of humans according to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. But the best part is, you don’t have to worry a lot about that. It does not cost an arm and a leg. No gym is involved, expensive food is out of the list and no doctor is involved. It just has one best solution - WASH

Just as simple as that.
