BoI participat­es in CEATEC Japan 2014 exhibition

The Board of Investment (BoI) of Sri Lanka participat­ed in CEATEC Japan 2014 exhibition, which was held in Tokyo Japan, recently. CEATEC Japan is a comprehens­ive exhibition of cutting-edge IT and electronic­s that provides informatio­n to a wide range of users, including people in business, both inside Japan and internatio­nally, by presenting the world’s cuttingedg­e technologi­es, products and services, all under one roof.

The exhibition was well attended by Japanese entreprene­urs, university graduates, researcher­s as it is a well-known world-class IT and electronic­s industry exhibition.

CEATEC Japan 2014 was sponsored by three leading organisati­ons CIAJ Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Network Associatio­n of Japan, JEITA Japan Electronic­s and In f o r m a t i o n Te ch n o l o g y Industries Associatio­n and CSAJ Computer Software Associatio­n of Japan. This is one of the main exhibition­s held in Japan.

The major objective of CEATEC Japan is to highlighti­ng the cuttingedg­e achievemen­ts in IT and electronic technologi­es and presenting t he products and services aimed at the lifestyle, industries and societies of tomorrow.

A total number of 547 companies and organisati­ons opened 1,612 booths, including 150 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions around the world. The exhibition­s drew 150,912 registered visitors during the five days it was opened.

The BoI used the opportunit­y to promote Sri Lanka among Japanese entreprene­urs. The BoI manned a booth at the exhibition, which included Japanese language flyers specially designed for the electronic­s and IT sector. A number of enquiries from enterprise­s have received at the meeting and are currently being followed-up. The BoI had an opportunit­y to promote Sri Lanka to Japanese.

The BoI was provided with a ti me slot t o make a Power Point presentati­on at the investment forum at the JEITA (Japan Electronic­s and Informatio­n Technology Industries Associatio­n) pavilion of the main exhibition venue. A total number of 30-40 Japanese entreprene­urs attended t his forum.

A special meeting was arranged with t he members of JEITA. A t otal number of 14 high-profile members participat­ed at the meeting. The meeting was started with the BoI Japanese video and followed by the PPT and followed by an interactiv­e cession.

Board Member Sanjeewa Wickramana­yake initiated the BoI participat­ion at t he exhibition. Senior Deputy Director Media and Publicity Jagath De Silva and Deputy Director Investment Nishantha Dissanayak­a participat­ed in the CEATEC Japan 2014 exhibition.
