Douglas & Sons acquires TVS Auto Parts

Douglas & Sons Pvt. Ltd. (DSL) announced that it has acquired TVS Auto Parts Pvt. Ltd. The acquisitio­n will facilitate better service provision for the needs of motorists, especially consumers of Indian manufactur­ed vehicles in Sri Lanka. Saroj Perera (Chairman/Managing Director of DSL Group of Companies), and Sunil Wijesinghe ( Chairman of TVS Auto Parts Pvt Ltd), recently signed the documents pertaining to this acquisitio­n.

TVS Auto Parts Pvt. Ltd is the sole agent and distributo­r in Sri Lanka for all 54 brands of auto parts manufactur­ed by companies of the TVS Group in India. These include factory fitted Original Equipment (OE) manufactur­ed for leading Indian Automobile Companies such as Tata, Ashok Leyland and Maruti etc.

Wa bc o (air brake components), BI TVS (hydraulic brake/clutch components), Lucas TVS (auto electrical components), Sundaram Fasteners (nuts & bolts), Sundaram Brake Liners, TVS Autolec (water / oil pumps), Wheels India (wheel rims & axles) and Turbo Energy Ltd (turbo chargers) are some of the very prominent companies owned by TVS Group known to produce world-renowned brands of auto parts. It is a fact that around 60 percent of OE parts used in many Indian made vehicles are made by companies of the TVS Group. DSL is recognised as the leader in Auto parts, tyres, and also vehicle batteries in Sri Lanka, with authorized distributo­rship of many worldrenow­ned brands in each of the above segments. Such as, Continenta­l and GT, which are world-renowned tyre brands, while Panasonic, Yuasa and Global are brands of Batteries imported by DSL. Where the auto parts segment is considered, DSL have been the distributo­r for Japanese brands such as NGK spark plugs, Mitsuboshi belts, Exedy clutches, NPW water pumps and Union Japan filters. They also have the agency for brands such as LUK clutches, Meritor axles and Gabriel shock absorbers etc for Indian vehicles.

With the new acquisitio­n, DSL will be able to offer a complete range of OE parts for Indian vehicles to be distribute­d through their island-wide dealer network of more than 400 dealers and DSL intents to operate TVS Auto Parts Pvt Ltd., as a separate entity.
