NBRO likely to complete investigations in a day
The NBRO had earlier investigated into the instabilities occurred in these sites in May 2005 and in November 2011. On both occasions, it had recommended the relocation of residents in line quarters.
The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) yesterday said it would be able to complete investigations, supervisions and provide information on landslide risks and earth slips in the Badulla District within yesterday.
NBRO Acting Director Gamini Jayatissa said five teams were deployed in the district to examine the risks of landslides in areas near Koslanda, Liyangahawatta in Bandarawela, Pitamaruwa in Passara and the area near the Wevegama Hospital.
He said the risks in the Badulla district would likely continue till the rainy weather condition ends.
Meanwhile, landslide warnings have been issued to all divisional secretariats in Kandy, Kegalle, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya, Ratnapura and Badulla Districts.
In Badulla district, landslide warnings were issued in areas like Ella, Passara, Uva Paranagama, Haputale, Haldumulla and Hali-Ela.
