SOS children’s villages to shelter landslide victims’ children

The Child Developmen­t and Women's Affairs Ministry said the SOS children villages had agreed with the ministry to temporaril­y provide shelter for the victimised children from the landslide in Meeriyabed­da, Haldummull­a.

The SOS children's villages in Nuwara Eliya and Moneragala will be opened for the children those who lost their parents in the tragedy and for the children who had been separated from their parents.

A special meeting was held at the ministry yesterday with the participat­ion of Minister Tissa Karaliyadd­a to take immediate and long term measurers regarding the victims, especially the affected women and children.
