BCRC want national Buddhist forces united

Buddhist Culture Renaissanc­e Committee (BCRC) President, Ven. Medagama Dhammanand­a Thera, said that the national Buddhist forces such as the Jathika Hela Urumaya, Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (People’s United Front) and National Freedom Front (NFF) should get together and work for the betterment of the country, despite their personal objectives.

“We cannot approve of the conduct and personal agendas of Minister Champika Ranawaka, Dinesh Gunawardan­a and Wimal Weerawansa who represent National Buddhist Forces in the country. We ask them to reveal the alternativ­e they have, if they are not satisfied with the rule of this government. We wonder how they are going to achieve their target by uniting with groups backed by foreign forces that are trying to disrupt the unity and harmony of the country”, Ven. Dhammanand­a thera said. conditions to the government, but they were not ideas of the people, but those of foreign forces.

The thera said that they could not approve of certain actions of the government but they hoped that it was the only alternativ­e that would ensure the safety of Sinhala Buddhists and a unitary Sri Lanka.
