Work at Hulftsdorp courts come to a standstill
All work at the country’s superior court complex in Hulftsdorp came to a standstill yesterday for over two hours with judges commencing hearings only at 11.30 am, much later than the scheduled start.
The reason for this delay was later found to be that the judges had attended the launch of a pilot project for the electronic filing of petitions.
The delay had greatly inconvenienced litigants who were present from all over the country. There had been no previous notice given regarding the delayed start to court proceedings.
The District Court and the High Court of Civil Appeal was scheduled to commence proceedings at 9.00 am, while the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court commence sittings at 10.am.
