Antiques are extraordinary masterpieces that have been made with an essence of craftsmanship. With age, beauty, rarity, condition, personal emotional connection and other unique features, their value grows. Among these ageless beauties, antique furniture is a favorite of collectors because they have both practical uses as well as collector value. Eliciting old-world charm and an elegant appeal, antiques easily blend into all kinds of homes and style aesthetics. Different furniture styles have evolved over a period of time depending on the time and place of origin. As they are an attractive collectors’ choice, they are a prominent group of items in auction houses.

The main highlight of the event will be the auction sale of the painting by David Paynter known as ‘Little Bambino’ (1934).What is most significant about this masterpiece is that it received an appreciation by the Sri Lanka Philatelic Bureau, when they issued a stamp depicting the image of this painting on December 12, 1999 under the theme ‘Sri Lanka paintings’
