CEYLINCO LIFE RECEIVES CHARTER FOR TOASTMASTERS CLUB
Ceylinco Life has joined corporate entities around the world that seek to harness the power of effective public speaking for the personal and professional advancement of its staff, with the formation of the company’s own Toastmasters Club.
The new club, consisting of its first batch of 24 members, was recently ceremonially chartered as a member club of Toastmasters International (TI) District 82, Division E, Area E02, making it part of the world’s leading communication and leadership-skill building organisation.
The glamorous event was attended by Ceylinco Life Managing Director/ CEO R. Renganthan in the capacity of chief guest and was graced by several Distinguished Toastmasters led by Yusuf Jeevunjee (Governor - TM International District 82) as the guest of honour, Sudash Liyange (TM International Lieutenant Governor Marketing District 82) and Ranishka Wimalasena (TM International Area Governor for Division E, Area 2).
The new club’s Executive Committee for 2014/15 installed by Division E Area Governor Ranishka Wimalasena is headed by Ceylinco Life’s Deputy General Manager – Marketing Samitha Hemachandra as President and comprises Chandana Herath (Vice President Education), Gayan Lakmal Alwis, (VP Memberships), Sudharshana Jayatilake (VP Public Relations), Lakshika Keragala (VP Social and Reception), Dhanushka Kurukulasuriya (Secretary), Suranga Dabarera (Treasurer) and Palinda Karunaratne (Sergeant-at-Arms).
A non-profit educational organisation that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs, Toastmasters International (www.toastmasters.org) currently has more than 313,000 members in over 14,650 clubs in 126 countries. Since its founding in October 1924, the organisation has helped more than four million men and women give presentations with poise and confidence. The communication and leadership projects designed by Toastmasters International are devoted to the development of the art of speaking, listening and critical thinking among its members.
