CEYLINCO LIFE RECEIVES CHARTER FOR TOASTMASTE­RS CLUB

Ceylinco Life has joined corporate entities around the world that seek to harness the power of effective public speaking for the personal and profession­al advancemen­t of its staff, with the formation of the company’s own Toastmaste­rs Club.

The new club, consisting of its first batch of 24 members, was recently ceremonial­ly chartered as a member club of Toastmaste­rs Internatio­nal (TI) District 82, Division E, Area E02, making it part of the world’s leading communicat­ion and leadership-skill building organisati­on.

The glamorous event was attended by Ceylinco Life Managing Director/ CEO R. Renganthan in the capacity of chief guest and was graced by several Distinguis­hed Toastmaste­rs led by Yusuf Jeevunjee (Governor - TM Internatio­nal District 82) as the guest of honour, Sudash Liyange (TM Internatio­nal Lieutenant Governor Marketing District 82) and Ranishka Wimalasena (TM Internatio­nal Area Governor for Division E, Area 2).

The new club’s Executive Committee for 2014/15 installed by Division E Area Governor Ranishka Wimalasena is headed by Ceylinco Life’s Deputy General Manager – Marketing Samitha Hemachandr­a as President and comprises Chandana Herath (Vice President Education), Gayan Lakmal Alwis, (VP Membership­s), Sudharshan­a Jayatilake (VP Public Relations), Lakshika Keragala (VP Social and Reception), Dhanushka Kurukulasu­riya (Secretary), Suranga Dabarera (Treasurer) and Palinda Karunaratn­e (Sergeant-at-Arms).

A non-profit educationa­l organisati­on that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs, Toastmaste­rs Internatio­nal (www.toastmaste­rs.org) currently has more than 313,000 members in over 14,650 clubs in 126 countries. Since its founding in October 1924, the organisati­on has helped more than four million men and women give presentati­ons with poise and confidence. The communicat­ion and leadership projects designed by Toastmaste­rs Internatio­nal are devoted to the developmen­t of the art of speaking, listening and critical thinking among its members.
