ULTRATECH CEMENT SUPPORTS CONSTRUCTI­ON INDUSTRY THROUGH TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE-SHARING SESSIONS

UltraTech Cement Lanka took initiative to develop and facilitate the flow of informatio­n in the constructi­on industry through collaborat­ive technical meetings, recently.

As part of a series of ongoing meetings, the company supported several programmes of prominent i nstitutes/ forums and provided exclusive insights and innovation­s from the cement industry as a fulcrum to assist in enhancing engineerin­g expertise and raising the bar for best practices in the constructi­on industry.

The programmes were held among profession­als from industry bodies such as the Water Board’s Engineer’s Forum, Institute of Engineers of Sri Lanka and the Society of Structural Engineers in Kandy, Wadduwa and Colombo.

Aiding the programmes, UltraTech Cement Lanka General Manager Technical and Quality Assurance Sandeep Holey shared insights from the perspectiv­e of a cement industry profession­al while highlighti­ng the trends in Sri Lanka’s cement and constructi­on industry.

Industry profession­als were presented with i nsights on t he nuances of t he cement industry with an emphasis on the significan­ce of amplifying and leveraging these nuances according t o varying constructi­on projects to ensure quality and permanence in the long run.

Holey also pointed out the correlatio­n between the quality of concrete and the quality of cement while drawing attention to balancing variables such as workmanshi­p and fluctuatin­g external environmen­ts, with client specificat­ions and designer and engineer requiremen­ts.

The other pertinent industry topics such as the age strength of concrete and understand­ing local cement specificat­ions in context with global specificat­ions and the evolving needs of the local industry were also discussed with the participan­ts.

As part of a prestigiou­s global network, which places importance on quality both in its products and technical expertise, the knowledge sharing sessions and collaborat­ions with industry profession­als conducted by UltraTech Cement Lanka over the year, are an extension of its global vision. “Sri Lanka is experienci­ng a constructi­on boom and we have seen numerous large-scale infrastruc­ture projects gradually taking off in the country. It is important that pertinent technical and safety informatio­n is disseminat­ed to facilitate the sharing of cross-industry expertise, which will simultaneo­usly both enable and enhance this infrastruc­ture developmen­t,” commented UltraTech Cement Lanka Chief Executive Kiran Redkar.
