UTE supports equipment longevity with CAT Care seminars
Recognising the importance of focusing on preventive maintenance of capital equipment, United Tractors and Equipment (UTE) organised a series of regional seminars, the latest of which was held in Pelmadulla, Ratnapura.
The competitive nature of commercial business makes it vital for any organisation to stay customer focused and provide swift, responsive service. It was with this in mind that UTE hosted these particular seminars, with the idea of extending the longevity of construction equipment - while creating long-term value for loyal customers.
Although UTE has been conducting CAT Care seminars for its customers for many years, the increase in the number of customers islandwide and the rapid development of technology have created a greater need for UTE to conduct such educational programmes more often and in different regions of the country. Therefore, this is the third regional seminar UTE has hosted this year. Similar seminars were conducted in Anuradhapura and Kandy as well.
The series of seminars highlighted the importance of preventive maintenance and the benefits of using genuine spare parts, focusing mainly on caterpillar construction machines and generators. Customers were able t o interact with engineers and technicians of UTE and were able to gain valuable information and clarify concerns during each seminar.
“For any project, completing the job on time is vital. Preventive maintenance can lead to major savings for the co n t r a c t o r, reducing equipment down-time and ensuring effective ti me management. When the contractor has to delay a project due to equipment failure, t his can have a knock-on effect on the public,” said UTE General Manager Product Support Services H.R. Ranasinghe.
Ranasinghe added that UTE always recommended its customers to opt for a preventive maintenance contract as such a contract entailed a scheduled maintenance programme. Through this programme, machines and generators will be maintained according to the manufacturer’s standards by well-trained technicians.
We ll - m a i n t a i n e d equipment would also result in better ROI and a higher resale value for the contractor, he added.
The owner of the Nawagamu Hena tea factory, Jayawardhana, who attended t he recent seminar, said, “These types of awareness programmes are greatly appreciated by machine owners as they are very informative and we can clarify technical aspects that are vital for effective and productive fleet management.
Contractors, especially those who reside in outstation areas rarely get this type of opportunities to gather technical knowledge on capital equipment.”
