DIALOG POWERS THE OFFICIAL SRI LANKA CRICKET 2015 WORLD CUP SONG

Presented to Sri Lanka Cricket team amidst thousands of cheering fans

National t eam sponsor, Dialog Axiata, launched t he official Sri Lanka Cricket 2015 World Cup Song – ‘Sri Lanka Api Thamai’ – at a grand musical extravagan­za at the CR&FC in Colombo on Monday featuring the Sri Lanka Cricket team amidst thousands of cheering fans channellin­g the wishes of the entire nation to the team.

Sri Lanka Api Thamai was performed live before the cricket team by its stellar line-up of artistes which include Sunil and Piyal, Bathiya, Santhush, Nalin, Lanthra, Umariya, Sangeetha, Meena, Bachi, Joey Lewis and Stephanie Siriwarden­a. The national team was also presented with copies of the track. The Official Sri Lanka Cricket 2015 World Cup Song is an initiative powered by Dialog Axiata combining the hopes and wishes of 21 million Sri Lankan cricket fans. The Sri Lanka cricket team – Our Lions, Our Pride – carry the expectatio­ns of all Sri Lankans and the song evokes the blessings of the whole nation to the team during their world cup endeavour.

The song was composed by Sri Lankan-born internatio­nal composer, Joey Lewis. The launch ceremony at CR&FC was hosted by Dialog, followed by a musical extravagan­za featuring the Marians and guest performanc­es by Iraj, Corrine,Ashanthi, Ruwan and Jaya Shree, much to the delight of the thousands of fans who had gathered to wish the team well. The Official Sri Lanka Cricket 2015 World Cup Song – Sri LankaApi Thamai – will also receive airplay during the months ahead on all popular radio channels and along with a lively music video for television.

“The Sri Lankan Cricket team represents the pride of the nation. They unite the passions of every Sri Lankan, and through this song we hope to channel the hopes and blessings and strength of the entire nation to Our Lions to bring the World Cup home. It also gives us a common anthem to cheer our team, and I would like to thank everyone for their unstinted support to produce this exceptiona­l song,” said Amali Nanayakkar­a, Group Chief Marketing Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC.

Dialog, voted by Sri Lankan consumers as the Telecom Services Provider of the Year for the third year in succession at the SLIM-Nielsen People’s Choice Awards, took on the mantle of powering Cricket – the national sporting passion of Sri Lankans in July 2013. Dialog's National t eam sponsorshi­p title encompasse­s both men’s and women’s national cricket teams across all forms of the game spanning Test, One Day and T20 played in Sri Lanka and overseas. Sri Lanka will commence their World Cup campaign when they take on the Kiwis i n a Pool A game, on February 14, 2015 at Christchur­ch, N ew Zealand.
