Road near Modarawila not repaired for years

- TEXT & PICS BY DAYARATHNA PATHIRANA

Pedestrians and motorists using the Panadura-Horana Road to the Modarawila Ground have been severely inconvenienced as the road has not been renovated for several years.

Many complained that the tar on the road had crumbled to pieces long before and that every day is like a rainy day as the potholes along the road was constantly filled with water and mud.

The road leads to an electricity production centre of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and a number of factories along the road. “We hope the authorities would look into this shortcoming soon,” residents said.

Many pedestrians complained that buses stop on either side of the road and they were forced to walk in the mud to reach their destination. “Even if the road is not renovated soon, the authorities should find a way to get rid of the stagnant water,” a frustrated commuter said.
