Opposition for early date on two motions
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said yesterday the opposition was bringing so many no-confidence motions because they were at a loss as to what to do.
Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) Leader Dinesh Gunawardane told he would definitely raise this matter at t oday’s Business Committee Meeting chaired by Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa. The opposition submitted a no-confidence motion against Mr. Amaratunga a few weeks ago and it has been in the Parliament Order Book since then.
“We want it to be taken up as soon as possible. We are also keen to have the debate on the motion against the Central Bank Governor. I will definitely raise it at the party leaders meeting tomorrow,” Mr. Gunawardena said.
Parliament will meet today for the first time after the enactment of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.
