Wanted drug peddler nabbed

Adrug peddler wanted in connection with distributing heroin in several areas of the country was arrested by the Bambalapitiya police.

The suspect known as “Kudubabi” was in possession of 25 grammes of heroin valued over Rs. 500,000 at the time of arrest. The 20-yearold suspect was a shanty dweller of the Bambalapitiya area.

Police arrested him on a tip-off that he was on his way to deliver a stock of heroin to another racketeer.

Under interrogation he revealed his involvement in the drug trafficking racket and his dealings with drug traffickers in the city. He was to be produced before the Bambalapitiya Magistrate after further questioning.

SI Jagath Kumara, Sergeant 1843 Balasuriya, PCs 15946 Kumara, 63291 Jeewana, 61280 Balasuriya, 87780 Wijekoon and WPC 8171 Shalika carried out the raid on the instructions of the OIC Bambalapitiya police Kamal Sanjeewa.
