Start computer studies diploma soon: CTSU
The Ceylon Teachers Service Union yesterday urged the Education Ministry to take immediate steps to start Business Studies and Accounting Diploma programmes at national colleges of education for teachers. Though the diploma programmes were to start on December 25, 2014, only the registration had taken place and the applicants are still waiting till their classes started, CTSU Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe said.
He also alleged that payments ranging from Rs. 30, 000 to 40, 000 for essential equipment and goods, were also paid by applicants who would reside in the college until the completion of their diplomas.
“We urge the ministry to look into this matter immediately. A considerable number of applicants have been selected to university entrance. Since they are registered for this diploma programme, they are not able to apply for university entrance,” Mr. Jayasinghe said.
