AG clarifies

With reference to the news item that appeared in the of May 8, 2015 headlined, “Alleged Jan. 8 Conspiracy probe -- MANGALA BLAMES AG FOR DELAY”, the Attorney General in a letter said that the news report was misleading and inaccurate.

The Attorney General’s letter states: “After examining the statements and the investigation notes submitted by the CID, officers of theAttorney General’s Department handling the file relating to the alleged attempt to stage a coup instructed the CID to conduct further investigations which include recording of statements, obtaining CCTV footage, etc., and the investigations are continuing.’

“Under the circumstances, it is a matter of regret that without verifying the facts, insinuations have been made against the officers of the Attorney General’s Department.’
