Seven patients with influenza hospitalised
A medical officer said the Medical Research Institute that carried out tests confirmed that two of them had developed symptoms of influenza HINI and the others were under observation.
Seven patients including three women who developed symptoms of influenza H1N1 have been admitted to the Panadura hospital.
Three of them are under treatment in the intensive care unit and the others have been transferred to a special ward and one of them is an expectant mother. A medical officer said the Medical Research Institute that carried out tests confirmed that two of them had developed symptoms of influenza HINI and the others were under observation.
He said the symptoms were not those of bird flu. The patients concerned had developed fever, severe headache and cold and were subject to special treatment. The medical officer said adequate precautionary measures had been taken to prevent others from contracting the disease.
