Fall from 8th floor kills worker

A worker at the building site at Siripala Mawatha fell off the 8th floor and died on admission to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital. He had fallen down when scaffolding collapsed.

Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate Mohamed Sahabdeen visited the scene and held the preliminary magisterial inquiry. The postmortem examination of the deceased was to be performed yesterday afternoon at the hospital.

During investigations, the Mount Lavinia police recorded the statements of several fellow workers. A senior police official said they did not receive any evidence to suspect foul play.
