A knock of 88 by Malindu Maduranga was the highlight of the opening day’s play in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter between Mahanama Colombo and Prince of Wales played at Kadirana.

Royal’s left arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniy­a who had a match bag of 15 wickets in the match against Richmond put in another fine bowling performanc­e when he ended with impressive figures of 7 for 55 helping his sdie to bundle out Thurstan for a paltry 131 one day in the Under 19 match played at Reid Avenue. Royal facing five overs ended the day on eight for no loss.
