APPROPRIAT­ION BILL FOR 2016 PRESENTED

The government yesterday presented the Appropriat­ion Bill depicting state expenditur­e for the year 2016 which totals up of Rs. 1,954.4 billion compared to Rs. 1,600 billion, which was the approximat­e total expenditur­e in 2015.

The total recurrent expenditur­e for 2016 is Rs. 1,314 billion while the capital expenditur­e will be Rs. 626 billion.

The projected expenditur­e for the President will be Rs 2.3 billion (Rs 2. 392, 075, 000). The expenditur­e for the President was approximat­ely Rs 9 billion more in 2015.

The total estimated spending of Prime Minister for 2016 is Rs 486.2 billion

As per the Bill, defence expenditur­e for the year 2016 is projected to be Rs 306.657 billion (Rs 306, 657, 824.000) which is a slight increase compared to the 2015 budget. The defence budget for 2015 was nearly Rs 263.02 billion.

The estimated expenditur­e for Education is Rs 186 billion which is projected as a huge increase as only Rs 47 billion was incurred the previous year.

Expenditur­e for health is Rs 174 billion while the government intends to spend Rs 156 billion for public administra­tion. The amount which the government had allocated for spending for agricultur­e is Rs 54.2 billion. The intended spending for Local government and provincial council ministry is Rs 237 billion and is high compared to other expenditur­e heads.

The projected spending for Ministry of Megalopoli­s and Western Province Developmen­t is Rs 21.9 billion while the spending for the ministry of national policies and economic affairs is Rs 11.9 billion.

The estimated spending for the ministry of national integratio­n is Rs 100.4 million while Rs 790,815 million is allocated for the spending of Ministry of National Dialogue. The estimated spending for Ministry of Law and order for 2016 is Rs 76,925 million.
