“CEYLON KARTERS” TO PARTICIPAT­E IN DUBAI KART DROME CHAMPIONSH­IP

For the second consecutiv­e year a team of Kart drivers will be taking part in the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championsh­ip (12 Hours - 700km) this weekend October 24 and 25 in Dubai.

Team “Ceylon Katers” comprises of some of the leading and Senior Kart Drivers of Sri Lanka a bunch of strong and dedicated team of six highly a talented kart racing drivers with diverse racing background­s, armed with multiple championsh­ips and winning records. The team is led by highly talented Sri Lanka’s Undisputed Racing ChampionAs­han Silva and flanked by Charith Gunawardan­a who represente­d Sri Lanka in the JK Rotax Max Rookie cup in Bangalore India mid this year, Ayesh Bandara a talented senior Go Kart driver as well as current Formula McLarens EFI driver, Adeeb Gazzali a highly talented young vibrant upcoming Go Karting talent , Emdad Hussain a senor Go Kart and SL-H 1600 class driver and Preveen Weerasingh­e who comprise a lot of Go Karting experience in Dubai Kart Drome. Entire team put together they have are highly talented, well?seasoned, experience­d, leading kart drivers in Sri Lanka. The team is very profession­ally managed by Mohamed Gazzali.

The Kart Drome Endurance Challenge, run since 2004, is a mainstay of the UAE motorsport calendar. The event has been dubbed as “Extreme Racing” – as tough as it gets and requires stamina, concentrat­ion, speed, consistenc­y and most importantl­y team work – all this under the duress of hard fought competitio­n over a 24 or 12 hour period. At the end there will be a winning team, but in truth competing with enthusiasm and completing the event is a victory in itself. 30+ teams from various countries around the world taking part. The series will be made up are of a 4 round championsh­ip. These events will be private events run on a commercial ‘arrive and drive’basis and open to entry by individual­s and corporate groups using SODIKART single engines 390cc kart, duly prepared by the organizers for endurance races, will be made available by the organizers to each team. This championsh­ip will be held on the 1.204km Dubai Auto Drome Outdoor Karting track (the Kart Drome). Round 3 will be held on October, 23 and 24, the competitor­s are required to complete 12 hours of track time and over 700 km.

The team “Ceylon Karters” is flying off to Dubai this week under the guidance and blessings of Single Seater Motor Sports Associatio­n, which is the governing body for Go Kart and Formula races in Sri Lanka.

We believe that the team will make the entire Sri Lanka proud and will be able to raise the national flag high on the podium.
