DAMITHA ABEYRATNE GIVES STATEMENT TO PRECIFAC
Actress Damitha Abeyratne yesterday gave a statement to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources and Privileges (PRECIFAC) in connection with a complaint on fraud and corruption at Srilankan airlines.
A senior PRECIFAC official said according to the complaint funds had been obtained from Srilankan airlines for former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s election campaign.
She told media after giving her statement that she was asked to report to PRECIFAC to record a statement on the food supplied at a musical show that she attended in Katunayake in December last year.
“I was asked to make a statement with regard to an irregularity in the supply of food for the show. I attended the show without knowing that it was a political event. I did not know anything about the food as I did not wait there to eat but went off to attend another show soon afterwards. I don’t know who supplied the food or what was there,” the actress said.
Statements were earlier recorded from actress and former MP Upeksha Swarnamalee (Paba), artiste Bandula Wijeweera, actress Ruwanthi Mangala and actor Lal Weerasinghe.
