LBR LBO Debrief ‘Business Climate Outlook’ is now a must-attend event prior to the new calendar year begins, to gain valuable insight to the unfolding economic and political scenario at global, regional and local levels. Speaking to media, Lanka Business Online (LBO) Founding Publisher Lakshaman Bandaranay­ake said, “In a world of increasing economic integratio­n, no business executive, investor, public sector official, academic or researcher can afford to be oblivious to the pulse of the economy- global, regional and local. Fortunes of Sri Lankan economy during the next 12 months will be closely linked to that of global economy as well as to the economic policy and the impact of the Budget proposals. LBR LBO Debrief aims to bring clarity to political-economy in a state of flux.”

As in the past LBR LBO Debrief this year too will see an array of local and internatio­nal speakers taking the stage to provide a concise overview of what one can expect in global economy, key economies and in Sri Lankan economy. This year’s LBR LBO Debrief has broadened the scope to cover shifting global and regional geo-political situation, the emerging world political and security order and business leaders’ perspectiv­es on navigating enterprise­s in the emerging economic-political scenario.

The programme will also discuss the implicatio­ns of the recent Budget and the Prime Minister’s policy statement and the implicatio­ns to the economy and industry.

The programme will specifical­ly discuss and debate: 1) The global, regional and local economic outlook, state of play in key markets and evolving global political and security order. 2) Likely impact of global economic and

geopolitic­al developmen­ts, including monetary policy normalizat­ion in the US, on Sri Lankan economy and business climate. 3) Budget of 2016 and Prime Minister’s policy statement and what they mean to commerce and industry. 4) Business leader’s expectatio­ns and how they intend to lead and navigate their organisati­ons in the evolving political and economic landscape. The confirmed speakers include leading local and internatio­nal economists, public sector officials, business executives, researcher­s and internatio­nal media profession­als. The speakers represent internatio­nal multi-lateral organisati­ons, internatio­nal and local banks, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, independen­t research organisati­on, media and think tanks. Five insightful keynote presentati­ons will be the foundation of the event. Regional economists will critically examine the outlook of world economy, the state of play of key economies and what one can expect in Sri Lankan economy. Oxford Business Group Managing Editor Asia Paulius Kuncinas will bring insightful perspectiv­es on the rapidly changing global security and political order.

Finally, Verité Research Executive Director Nishan de Mel PHD will discuss how the Sri Lankan economy is likely to unfold during the next 12 months. In addition to the keynotes, three thought-provoking panel discussion­s will aim to explore how will the evolving political-economic scenario impacts Sri Lankan business/economy and how Sri Lankan business leaders intend to navigate their enterprise­s in 2016.
