Christmas is also the season of giving and sharing. Embodying that spirit is Mariza Anthonisz of Five Star Event Management who is busy making wreaths for the festive season in aid of her church in an act of spreading Basileia values. “This is a Bibilical Greek word for Kingdom. Over 75% of the proceeds from the sale of the wreaths will be my humble contributi­on towards the constructi­on of a special auditorium for this purpose” Mariza explained.

Images of wreaths hung on doors during Christmas are commonplac­e especially in the West. Explaining the significan­ce of hanging wreaths Mariza says ”as it is usually hung on an entrance door, it signifies welcome and also eternity - there is no beginning or end.”

“I decided to make wreaths because they are heartwarmi­ng, simple to decorate and an affordable purchase to decorate your home. I keep to the traditiona­l Christmas colours of red, green, gold and silver. Also, my decorating skills and experience prompt me to use unusual colours like bronze, copper and gold, hot pink, purple and silver, burnt orange, lime green and gold, shades of blue, silver and white, and black, gold and red. As I have been making them for a while I’ve mastered the art and depending on the size of the wreath it can take me anything from 30 minutes for a small wreath to over an hour for bigger and more elaborate wreaths.
