Abhishek Ananda Kumara, captain of the under 13 cricket (A) team of Trinity College Kandy excelled as an all-rounder and piloted his team to enter the second round of the under 13 division one inter school cricket tournament conducted by SLSCA.

Abhishek, a right handed batsman as well as a right arm off spinner, has been a consistent performer from the year (2012) he started representing the Trinity College under 13 ‘C’ team and his fine performances as an all-rounder enabled him to be considered good enough to lead the college under 13 ‘A’ team in 2015.

This year, he has scored 335 runs and picked up 30 wickets in 9 matches (including second round matches played so far) to be shine as the highest wickets taker and the second highest run getter for the side.

He slammed two unbeaten half tons 64 against Kingswood, 66 against Sri Sumangala Kandy and a top score of 68 against Rahula College Matara in his tally of 335 runs.

Last year, he scored a total of 230 runs inclusive of a ton and a half to be named the college under 13 best batsman he was the key bowler of the side with 30 wickets, which included two six wicket hauls 6/31 against Kingswood, 6/25 against St. Sylvester’s Kandy and a match bag of 10 wickets (4/29 and 6/19) for 48 runs against Vidyartha College Kandy.

This budding junior cricketer has already been selected for the Kandy district under 13 cricket pool, where he will receive further training under the supervision of SLC district coaches.

He owes much gratitude to his coaches Lasith, Dimuthu, Suresh and Sunil for their guidance. This promising player who has impressed with his fine style of batting with good techniques has given notice that a lot could be expected of him in the future. Abhishek is no doubt a bright prospect in the Trinity side.
