The viewers were expected to be at the CR&FC Ground by 7pm as suggested by the event page. Yet they had been queuing up from 5pm. The queues were as long as one could imagine them to be. Despite the fact that the queues were long the fans were excited as ever. With a hope that the event would start at least by 7. 30pm the fans were patiently waiting outside the ground. The time was 8pm but there was no sign of the event starting although the crowd crashed through the entrance running to get a place where they could catch a good glimpse of Enrique himself. An occassional sound check was done and at 9pm the backstage crew was still checking the lighting system. There was no compere. Therefore the crowd had to wait impatiently staring at the stage every passing minute just to see a sign that it’s starting. The time was 10pm and the only ‘entertainment’ in the ground was some light DJ music.

By 10.30pm the band suddenly appeared on stage and Iglesias was on stage much to the excitement of the fans. Some of his popular hits such as Hero, Bailando, I Know You Want Me, Bailamos and many more tracks were performed much to the delight of the fans who had been waiting for many hours to see him. The event drew to an end by 12am .The most disadvantaged, and rightfully angered, were the VIP ticket holders who paid a significant amount to watch their favourite artiste perform, while many Rs. 5000/- ticket holders scored a bargain and managed to get into the VIP area.

Enrique Iglesias, widely regarded as the King of Latin Pop made his presence in Sri Lanka last Sunday. Ever since news went round that the Spanish singing sensation was expected to perform in Sri Lanka, his fans were excited as ever. The craze to at least be present at the venue was also quite evident with the rate at which tickets were sold out. However much to the dismay of the spectators several mishaps on the part of the organising team led the event to be one of a less than entertaining one.

Sri Lanka is an ideal destination for all those who have a passion for wildlife. Its unique geographical location has indeed paved the way for nature lovers to come across a variety of flora and fauna. From rainforests in the wet zone to lakes and rivers in the dry zone, many habitats are home to millions of species.
