Seventh edition of Malaysia Internatio­nal Shoe Festival launched

The official opening of the Malaysia Internatio­nal Shoe Festival (MISF) 2016 gathered thousands of highly anticipati­ve audience as it kicked off its 7th edition at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

Special Guest of Honour, YB Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, new Deputy Minister for Ministry of Tourism & Culture Malaysia, was excited at her debut involvemen­t with the Festival this year, as she also harbours a passion for fashion and shoes.

She added, “The Malaysia Internatio­nal Shoe Festival has been an annual event that has been co-organized with us since the year 2010. Looking at the range of activities during these 3 days, I’m glad to see that apart from the exhibits and sales of trendy shoes, there are also many competitio­ns organized for youths. An estimated 500 students are participat­ing in competitio­ns, and joining in on the Fashion Forum!”

Competitio­ns lined up over this fashionabl­e weekend include Display Your Creativity: The MISF Art Installati­on Showcase, and a Shoe Make Over Competitio­n entitled Step Up To Color.

The launch of the 7th edition Festival also saw the kick-off of several crowd-pleasing highlights such as an Internatio­nal Sneakers Collection, Shoe Fashion Show, Fashion Designer Gallery, Fashion Forum by Local Famous Designers, Shoe Vintage Gallery and appearance­s by Professor Datuk Dr. Jimmy Choo OBEL!

Professor Datuk Dr. Jimmy Choo OBE and Bon Zainal participat­ed in the fashion forum that saw them sharing their brand secrets and encouragin­g arts students to pursue their dreams of a business in fashion. Many shoe fanatics in the audience were actively involved in the forum’s Q&A session, followed by a meet and greet session after that.

The Malaysia Internatio­nal Shoe Festival 2016 is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia and organized by The Malaysian Footwear Manufactur­ers Associatio­n (MFMA) to also lend its support to local fashion designers, manufactur­ers and retailers.

The launch of the official Festival is also timely as Tourism Malaysia has recently launched its Malaysia National Sales shopping campaign that offers shoppers to enjoy huge discounts, in-store surprises, redemption­s and many more. Hence, in keeping with MISF 2016’s theme “Sole of the Nation: A Colorful World of Shoes”, a array of local and internatio­nal brands comprising Fiorucci, Nike, Larrie, , Lanbaharin,

Brooks and many more, were displayed with all its fashionabl­e glory at Hall 4, PWTC, Kuala Lumpur. Early visitors to MISF 2016 were very keen on the
