Hat-trick of wins for Lankan Brayan in India Formula Junior Racing series

-

The opening round of the Formula Junior Racing Series (FJRS) which took place last week at the Kari Motor Speedway in India served as the ideal platform for aspiring young drivers to take a big step forward in their racing careers.

FJRS is a new entry-level Formula Racing Series for rookie drivers, who have attended the Meco Racing Academy, to step up from karting to single-seater open-wheel racing.

17 year old Sri Lankan Formula Champion Brayan Perera, dominated the first round of the Formula Junior Racing Series held in India winning three of the five races in the Formula 1300cc LGB category where he managed to outshine a host of experienced Indian drivers.

He won the first, fourth and fifth races and finished second in the second race over powering all other drivers in his category showing his class and experience in Formula racing. Indian drivers Alex Bora and Ashwin Datta won the other two races in the series where a 12 car grid was present. This performance comes after Perera won the JK Tyre’s Rotax Max Rookie Class Go Kart meet in May last year – his first outing in India. He has emerged in his short yet excellent racing career starting from Go Karting at the Speed Drome Battaramulla track when he was 13. He has, since then, graduated to the Mclarens Formula 1300 Carburetor category and subsequently started in the Formula Mclarens 4 EFI category where he won the Championship in 2014 and went on to fight for the championship with Chandima Goonarathna in 2015, where he emerged runner up.
