Improved relationships between sectors key to winning worker’s rights: FSP

- BY YOHAN PERERA

Developing a close relationship between workers of various sectors is essential to make the struggle of the working class to win their rights a success, the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) highlighted in their May Day Rally yesterday.

“We see divisions among the workers involved in different sectors today.these divisions often lead towards conflicts among the workers in various sectors and such conflicts are obstacles which prevent the working class from winning their rights,”fsp Politburo Member Duminda Nagamuwa told its May Day Rally last evening.

Mr.nagamuwa said the divisions among workers in various sectors had become a global phenomenon today.

Furthermore, he said all the issues faced by the working class were not addressed in the proper manner.“the main focus has always been on the financial issues faced by the workers today while a host of other issues are forgotten.mr.nagamuwa blamed the traditional leftist leadership for this situation. He therefore stressed the need for moving away from this tradition.

Focusing on the Sri Lankan scenario,mr Nagamuwa said workers have been compelled to launch a struggle to win their rights.“the workers in this country are being forced to launch a struggle in order to secure their EPF and ETF contributions as the administration of these funds are going to be taken away from the Central Bank in the future.also he said the authorities had failed to resolve the salary issues faced by public and private sector workers.
