AVIC International to open Astoria residential complex in 2017

-

The condominium development site at R A De Mel Mawatha will be open to residents as Astoria in 2017. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, Astoria consists of four towers and 608 luxury apartments.

The development project is the first foray of AVIC International Hotels Lanka Limited, a subsidiary of Chinese mega incorporation Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), in the Sri Lankan real estate sector. Astoria’s relationship with AVIC has ensured the project is conducted in compliance with international standards and regulations, fuelled with overseas experience and cutting-edge technology employed by AVIC.

The project has two unique aspects that will ensure maximum efficiency. The first, the aluminum system formwork, which consists of aluminum sections, plate sheathing and prop head combined with supporting aluminum cross beams and adjustable steel props.

The system can be assembled fast and is easily removed, reducing construction time and cost. The aluminum alloy formwork can also be used 300 times, unlike its wooden counterpart, which can be used only once, making the system more environment friendly and ensures there is no waste at the site. The denser and smoother concrete surface after the removal of the formwork ensures a stronger slab with no plastering needed.

The second aspect, the self climbing scaffolding system, suitable for high rise buildings and high rise shear wall structures, has a built in safety screen design, which would effectively prevent workers and objects from falling during construction.

The standardized operation with computerized control system makes the on site management simple and easy. Once the scaffolding has been lifted, work on the walls can begin immediately, while construction work on other sites are ongoing, largely reducing the construction time. Self climbing mechanism is integrated with a safety monitoring system which safeguards the staff and ensures maximum safety at the site.

AVIC International Hotels Lanka, backed by (AVIC), has been ranked 159 in the prestigious Fortune Top 500 Enterprises catalogue. The stateowned company is administered by the Chinese government and has ties with 200 member companies around the world.

AVIC has over 110 overseas offices in 50 countries and regions across the world including the USA, Canada, Australia, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, the UAE and China. These international experiences have significantly contributed to its remarkable popularity among the Sri Lankan clientele.
