Top Seed Nirmal cruises into Pin Fernando Trophy Semi Final

Lalith Rohith faced a tough test against Nishan Navaratne in the Prequarter Match, winning 2 & 1 in a close call, but had luck on his side receiving a walkover from Capt. Damindra Fernando who had to Pilot a Sri Lankan Aircraft to Bangkok and thus forced to give a walkover after defeating Gihan Wickramasinghe 2 up in the earlier Round.

Sudath Kumar defeated Chandima Desinghe 1up and beat Ramesh Carvahlo in the Quarterfinal comfortably 5 & 4 to book his place in the Semis. Sudath Kumar meets Janaka Tebuwana who defeated Dayananda Ukwatte 4 & 3. In the pre-quarter matches Janaka Tebuwana beat Rohan De Silva, whilst Dayananda Ukwatte beat Safraz Zuhar.

Lalith Rohith meets Top Seed Nirmal Hettiaratchy who brushed aside Rajeev Rajapakse 4 & 3 in the Quarter-final clash emphasized and his current form as the best qualifier. Earlier in the Quarters Nirmal beat Charithra Hettiaratchy 5 & 3, whilst Rajeev Rajapakse overcame Arjun Fernando a former winner, of the Pin Fernando Trophy, on the 16th hole.

The Finalists will be found on Thursday and the Finals of the Pin Fernando Trophy will be played at 1 p.m. on Friday July 29.

The Pam Fernando Trophy Top Seed Michelle Mirchandani beat H. J. Han from Korea 4 & 3, whilst Inam Sangani received a walkover over Suwen Selvaratnam. In the bottom half Jacqui Dias beat Niranjalie Amarasuriya on the 19th hole in a tough battle having given 17 strokes away, which is most creditable. Louis Parsons beat Roshini Sangani 2 & 1.

In the Semi–final Inam Sangani beat Michelle Mirchandani 6 & 5 and meets Jacqui Dias who defeated Louis Parson 3 & 2. Young Inam meets experienced Jacqui Dias in the Final of the Pam Fernando Trophy on Thursday 28th July at 1.15 p.m.
