Government has the ability to bring about peace and reconciliation: Ganeshan
Minister Mano Ganeshan said the government of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe provided the best opportunity to bring about national reconciliation, peace and brotherhood among all communities.
Addressing a ceremony at the Pulasthipura Institute of Education in Polonnaruwa to award certificates to officials of several government establishments in the district, who completed the Tamil Language proficiency course, he said people of all communities should foster brotherhood and live in peace and harmony.
“The country belongs to all communities. The President himself reminded everyone that the Sinhalese people could enjoy peace only if issues affecting the Tamil people were resolved. It is sad that his predecessors could not understand this. Today we have to go to Geneva and Washington and kneel down before foreigners. I want to resolve these issues within the country without interference from foreigners. The present government has taken measures to prevent such interference and has understood the root course of national issues”, he said.
Dimbulagala Divisional Secretary Mrs. S. Jalaldeen, Presidential Coordinating Secretary Ilangaratne Peiris, and the Director General of the National Language and Training Centre Prasad R.herath also spoke.
