THE TWO-DAY SUMMIT TITLED ‘FOCUS. ACT. DELIVER’ HAS ATTRACTED 460 TOP CORPORATE AND PUBLIC SECTOR SENIOR EXECUTIVES

Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2016, organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), will commence today with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena as the chief guest.

The two-day summit titled ‘Focus. Act. Deliver’ has attracted 460 top corporate and public sector senior executives and aims to vigorously discuss how to unleash Sri Lanka’s unrealized economic potential. The flagship chamber event will conduct seven sessions of strategic discussions covering areas such as how to accelerate Sri Lanka’s growth levels, private and public partnerships, tourism, international trade and logistics, talent pool growth, commercial agriculture and also on the country’s ailing public enterprises.

The first session of the event ‘Accelerating Growth, Pushing for Performance’ will kick start soon after the inauguration by the president with Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy delivering the keynote speeches.

The duo’s addresses will be followed by a panel discussion with the participation of another three eminent resource persons in the likes Pemandu Malaysia CEO Dato Sri Idris Jala, former Central Bank Deputy Governor W.A. Wijewardena and IPS Chairman Prof. Razeen Sally. CCC Chairperson Samantha Ranatunga will deliver the welcome address of the event, while former Chairperson Suresh Shah will moderate the first session’s panel discussion. Fifty high-calibre resource persons from both Sri Lanka and overseas, representing both the public and private sectors will join to share insights across the two days, focusing on how to move from issues to solutions, potential to performance and rhetoric to action. The annual event is held for the 17th consecutive year and falls in line with some of the CCC’S key principals, which it stands for, such as creating a market-oriented and private sector-led economy, an economy based on competitiveness, driven by exports, attracting quality foreign direct investments (FDIS) and making Sri Lanka a preferred investment destination.

Hayleys PLC and Pyramid Wilmar are the Platinum sponsors of the event, while Sunshine Holdings and CIC have come forward as the Gold sponsors. Dialog has signed in as the Silver sponsor and First Capital, Ironwood Capital Partners and Lanka IOC are the Strategic sponsors of the summit.
