GUNAWARDEN­A BROTHERS PLEASED WITH THEIR PROGRESS

The Sentul internatio­nal circuit was the stage for another weekend of close racing and both Gunawarden­a brothers recorded fantastic lap times and the younger brother Aaron clinched a top-ten finish in his second race for the day. Despite high temperatur­es throughout the entire weekend, and a few crashes both youngsters displayed strong performanc­es in their respective events. Aaron in the Suzuki Challenge and Jaden in the Honda dream cup 250cc. “Overall, we had a great weekend at the Sentul race circuit, “It’s awesome to see all the fans support the local riders. Jaden also went on to say that his crash was unfortunat­e during the qualifying as he was running at a very good pace, but despite his injuries he got back on the bike and pushed and clocked a good timing. The Indian duo and the riders from Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Australia and Taipei were all behind young Jaden. Younger brother Aaron also qualified well and was in front of the 3 Japanese riders as well as a few riders from the Philippine­s, Vietnam and Nepal.

Aaron starting 9th on the grid in the first race and moving up to 6th within the first lap and while trying to overtake a Filipino rider crashed, but was quick to restart the bike and make his way up to the 13th position and finished in front of the Vietnam and Nepal rider. The second race of the day was interestin­g too as he had a close battle with former super-bike champion Noriyuki Haga’s son and the other Japanese rider from start to finish and Aaron got the better of them as well as riders from Singapore, Nepal and Vietnam and finished the second race in 10th place. Jaden had a clean run from start to finish hanging on to the front pack of riders and regularly exchanging positions with the Indian, Thai and Singaporea­n riders. He finished the first Race in 13thpositi­on ahead of 5 riders who were representi­ng India, Singapore, Australia, Taipei and Vietnam. Race 2 was similar and he also finished 13th ahead of the same batch of riders.
