SLFP Central Committee (CC) removes 13 electoral and district organisers including six former Ministers, one Deputy Minister, two MPS and one Mayor; appoints 40 in their places
The SLFP Central Committee (CC) yesterday removed 13 electoral and district organisers including six former Ministers, one Deputy Minister, two MPS and one Mayor and appointed 40 organisers to replace them.
The appointment of new organisers had received the consent of party leader President Maithripala Sirisena, a spokesman of the Presidential Secretariat said.
Thus, former Ministers of the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime, Gamini Lokuge, Sarath Kumara Gunaratne, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardhana, Keheliya Rambukwella, C.B. Ratnayaka and Pavithra Wanniarachchi, former Deputy Ministers Rohitha Abeygunawardana and Dr. Jagath Balasuriya have lost their party organiser posts of their respective constituencies or districts.

Under the new set up, Chandana Kathriarachchi will be the new SLFP Chief Organiser of Kesbawa electorate replacing former Minister Lokuge, Sanjaya Siriwardana, the new organiser of Mirigama, W.B. Lalith Tensil, Organiser of Negombo in place of former minister Gunaratne, Chandana Jayakody, sole organiser of Divulapitiya Sumith Lal Mendis, organiser of Kalutara replacing Deputy Minister Abeygunawardana, Deputy Minister Hemal Gunasekara to Weligama replacing former Minister Abeywardana, Sunil Kithsiri Amaratunga to Kundasale replacing former Minister Rambukwella, Jagath Kumara Samarahewa to Walapane in place of former Minister Ratnayaka, Sarath Sandanayaka to Ratnapura to replace former minister Wanninayake and Sumith Samayadasa to Haputale removing former MP Lokubandara and D.m.p.a.dassanayake to Uva – Paranagama replacing former Kaduwela Mayor A.m.budhadasa.
Other newly appointed SLFP district organisers are Hussain Manzil, Rajitha Kodituwakku, Anura Atukorala and Widura Balasuriya to Colombo, Lalith Wanigaratne and Ajith Basnayake to Gampaha, Sumithra Priyanganee and Hasitha Gunawardane to Kalutara, Raj Chandralal to Matara, H.w.gunasena to Hambantota, Bandula Seneviratne to Kandy, Sheela Yapa, Dr. Chulla Jayantha Dharmapriya, Ebert Perera, Roshan Gunawardane to Nuwara Eliya, S. Ravi Kumar, Athula Ratnayake and Farook Abdul Lathif to Kegalle, J.m.gunatilake and Jayasiri Premadasa to Badulla, Indrani Dissanayake to Puttalam, Premasiri Hettiarachchi to Anuradhapura and Chaminda Wasala to Vavuniya.
In the process of appointing new organisers replacing former ministers, deputy ministers and MPS, the CC has refrained from appointing joint organisers to constituencies.
