‘Zahira Walk’ organized by the Old Boys’ Union of Zahira College Matale to mark the 75th anniversary of the college, will be held on Saturday (10) starting from the school premises at 9.00 am.

The walk will proceed along Taralanda Road via the main street and travel up to the post office junction and then head back to the school via King Street covering the entire Matale town.

The walk will focus on the theme of social responsibility ‘equality for all’ and aims to encourage everyone to say ‘NO’ to drugs and alcohol, to stop child abuse and also to promote religious and social harmony.

Approximately, 2000 participants are expected to participate in the walk which will be led by the principal and staff of the school, members of old boys union, and the school development society, followed by the students of the school.

The organizers anticipate the whole hearted support of past students, teachers, parents and well-wishers and call on them to rally around their alma mater in the spirit of fellowship and unity to make this event a memorable one. -L.B. CHANDRASIRI
