S. Thomas’ and Trinity U-19 joint champions

S. Thomas’ and Trinity College were declared joint champions of the under 19 age group at the 2nd Annual TPT Hockey Carnival that was played at Bambalapti­ya on Saturday.

When no time was blown neither side had crossed the others line.

The golden Goal shoot out for a decision was not reached and in the single strokes penalty shoot out scored were tied 4 all.

Thus both schools were awarded the TPT Challenge Trophy. Other results – Finals

TPT Challenge Trophy donated by the Old Boys of the Trinitian Sports Club for the 30 to 40 age group – St. Peter’s beat S. Thomas’ 2-1 on a penalty shoot out.

TPT Challenge Trophy donated by Dr. Sarath De Alwis Seneviratn­e in memory of his father Hinton De Alwis Seneviratn­e.

De Alwis Seneviratn­e for the under 40 age group - S. Thomas’ beat St. Peter’s 1-0 on a penalty shoot out.

TPT Challenge Trophy donated by Mario Joseph and Godwin Solomon for the 20 to 30 age group – Trinity beat St. Peter’s 3-2 on a penalty shoot out. TPT Challenge Trophy donated by the Past Hockey players of all three colleges – Trinity and St. Peters’ joint champions 0-0.

The games were officiated by M. Naushad, W.M.C. Dissanayek­e, S.S. Jayasinghe, H.M.C. Bandara, N. Paranidara­n, M. Irshad and D.J. Prakash.

The next year ‘s tournament will be hosted by Trinity College and will be played in Kandy. BM
