UPVC, smarter choice to construct eco-friendly homes and buildings

-

The reputed green building material – un-plasticized polyvinyl chloride – popularly known as UPVC, is a popular choice in the construction industry today and it provides a healthy alternative for eco-friendly buildings.

The country’s leading interior solutions specialist Centrepoint Homes has come forward with a range of UPVC products that include windows, sliding doors, fanlights and a host of other alternatives for the building industry to use more green-conscious fittings and thereby promote the conservation of forests and protect the precious waters by maximizing on energy-saving insulation.

Combined with double-glazing technology for glass that provides the best sound insulation options, UPVC is a solid solution in the construction industry currently.

A state-of- the-art UPVC fabrication plant was commissioned in 2013 under Centrepoint Homes with top of the line German machinery to supply products for the local industry. Since then, these products have gained tremendous popularity due to their uniquely characteristic features of minimal maintenance, fire resistance, longevity, resilience and an ability for customization, aesthetic appearance, environmental friendliness, high acoustic and sound insulation, energy efficiency, maximum wind resistance and water saturation.

Furthermore, it scores decisively over its rivals that constitute wood and aluminum products by providing uncompromising versatility and flexibility. Through the addition of plasticizers, the competitive edge of being able to be manufactured in many colors and be resistant to chemical erosion is gained. It also has the functional ability to be used in a wide range of temperatures and operating pressures that make this an ideal choice. A revolution in the building industry has indeed begun with the use of stronger but lighter weight and more resilient materials and Centrepoint Homes is proud to have undertaken and completed the two largest UPVC projects in Sri Lanka in Fairway Sky Garden Residencies, a 140- apartment, 31-floor luxury apartment building in Rajagiriya, and The Fairway City Hotel, a 181-room, eight-floor hotel complex in Colombo. Centrepoint Homes also boasts of the most technically competent installation team in the industry.
