SEPTEMBER 17 IS LADIES’ DAY WITH THE ROYAL TURF CLUB

-

Once again the Royal Turf Club will score another first when they stage ‘Ladies Day’ up at the Nuwara Eliya Race Track on September 17 , with Minister Navin Dissanayake coming as a special guest.

Nuwara Eliya will be all agog when the Royal Turf Club (RTC) kicks off or rather gallops off their next race which is bound to create a lot of excitement amongst both spectators and participants .

Five races are to be conducted with more that LKR 1,000,000 prize money to be distributed. The Class 5 Handicap is a most interesting event where the first of the RTC Sale Auction horses Salsa Dancer will test her skill on the tricky Nuwara Eliya circuit. The Jayantha Wijesinghe trained pair, namely Cosmopolitan, will attempt to finish ahead of stable mate Agusta, as per the last race meeting when a length separated them. Agusta will be slightly better off on her weight this time which should make for a closer finish. The highly impressive Sri Lankan bred Don Hasa will be attempting to win his third race at an RTC meeting. Don Hasa has had 5 starts with the RTC for two wins and three seconds, however this will be his first attempt at the sprint distance of 1070 metres on the Nuwara Eliya course. Bearing in mind that the other runners are also trying their luck at this distance in Sri Lanka, this will surely be an exciting event.
