Ceylinco Life goes green in Panadura

Ceylinco Life has reiterated its commitment to greener operations with the opening of the company’s new, purposebui­lt environmen­t-friendly office in the heart of Panadura.

The three-storey, 7,713 square foot company-owned building at Galle Road, Panadura is powered by solar panels, is equipped with energy-efficient air-conditioni­ng and lighting systems,has rainwater harvesting facilities and uses recycled sewage water for the sustenance of its garden, significan­tly reducing consumptio­n of resources and minimising its carbon footprint.

The building has a fully-equipped conference hall and ample parking for customers. Conforming strictly to its commitment to be eco-friendly, the constructi­on was completed without sacrificin­g the trees at the site, the company said.

The new building was formally declared open by Ceylinco Life Managing Director R. Renganatha­n on October 7th, one year after he laid its foundation stone. It was designed and built to a new ecofriendl­y model adopted by the life insurance leader as part of its commitment to the environmen­t.

Similar branch buildings designed to use renewable energy and water have been built by Ceylinco Life on companyown­ed land atwennappu­wa, Trincolmal­ee and Bandarawel­a, while constructi­on of another eco-friendly branch is nearing completion at Horana.the company already owns the buildings housing its offices in Anuradhapu­ra, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Kandy, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Tissamahar­ama, Negombo, Ratnapura, Kotahena and Mount Lavinia, and some of them have been converted to solar energy.

Additional­ly, Ceylinco Life has broken new ground in the sphere of eco-friendly operations with the installati­on of the biggest solar electricit­y system in the city of Colombo to date at its head office building in Colombo 5, with an investment of Rs 13.7 million to generate 63.18kw.
